In 2004, in an effort to expand the vocal studio business Scott Rabb decided to introduce Entertainers Secret Throat Spray and PocketTones Pitch Pipes to the local music retailers. Since he was not a musician and little time had been spent in music stores, he didn't know what he was getting himself into. During his first visit he realized there was not a vocalist department and Just Gotta Sing was born!
Originally Just Gotta Sing was a concept, put all the products a vocalist would use in one place, a specific department for singers. It didn't take long to realize that music stores didn't consider vocalists a viable market or audience. Unlike the more profitable instruments, there are no replacement parts to a vocalist's instrument and it seemingly needs little care or products.
Realizing the potential of the idea, Henry Thayers' Owner Karen Clark invited Scott to present the concept at the NAMM show in Anahiem, CA. Still, many stores could not see beyond the instruments and while some would end up carrying one or two products they didn't see enough potential in the marketplace.
He introduced Just Gotta Sing to a distributor and spent the next year or so working with them traveling and presenting Just Gotta Sing to a few of the big chains and at the NAMM show again and again. He realized it was time to go back to basics. He handed the Entertainers Secret product to the brick and mortar distributor to carry on with but decided to go back to the internet and promote his own store for vocalists.
Since then, many of the individual manufacturers of the Just Gotta Sing product lineup have realized considerable growth in their vocalist product market. Still one of the only stores to focus on vocal health products and offer a full line of similar products, Just Gotta Sing has been intregal in opening the doors to a new product industry for all the companies involved.
Meanwhile Just Gotta Sing continues to be a main force in the industry on both the wholesale and retail levels. By having knowledge of the voice, experience with the products, and communication with vocalists, coaches and stars around the world, Just Gotta Sing continues to grow not only its own business but the entire industry.
Just Gotta Sing was primarily a home-based online business but in 2010 moved into a brick & mortar location. Also owned by Scott Rabb & wife Mary Ann Cooper, Just Gotta Sing is located inside The Feed Store.
